About the Photographer

 Welcome

Welcome friends.  My name is David Stroud and I am pleased you decided to stop by.  For as long as I can remember I have been drawn to photography and capturing beautiful images. But beauty as we're told, is in the eye of the beholder.  ADP stands for A Different Perspective.  As we all have different ways of seeing things and individual ways of interpreting what we see, I welcome you to view and comment on my personal perspective on the world around  me.

About the Photographer

I grew up and went to school in the small town of Atwater, California.  At the age of 17 I joined the United States Marine Corps.  The first 8 years of my adult life were spent traveling the world as an active duty Marine.  This inspired my interest in photography as I wanted to capture the strange new environments in which I found myself.  After this I joined the Marine Corps Reserve where I deployed to Iraq in 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.  My service to the Marine Corps ended in 2006.

After a short stint in the civilian sector I returned to service in 2008 by joining the Colorado National Guard as a member of the 5th Battalion , 19th Special Forces Group.  I continue this service today.  Service to the state of Colorado has taken me to some wonderful and amazing places, some of which I've shared with you on these pages.

In addition to my military service, I also work in the private sector as a network engineer for a large telecommunications company.

Early Work

Here is a sampling of my early work.  All of these photos were taken with either a Cannon PowerShot, point and shoot camera or a Sony NEX-5N, mirrorless DSLR.  The photos and any subsequent post production was done prior to any formal training.  Click here to go directly to my Current Work.

The Turning Point

A little over a year ago I decided that I wanted to take my passion for photography to the next level.  I enrolled at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, in the Commercial Photography program.  It's almost everyone's dream to do something that you enjoy so much, it barely seems like work.  I'm making that dream a reality.
